It was my first time coming to this location. The service is quiet slow even though there weren't very many people in the restaurant. I also found the rice pretty mushy and the taste was odd. However, for 6 people, it was under $50. I think the price really reflects the quality of this place.
You may be familiar with the original Tentatsu restaurant in East Van, by Hastings and Nanaimo. Tentatsu recently just opened their second location in Burnaby, about a 8 minute drive from the original!. The boyfriend and I decided to try it on a whim one evening.
Used to come to this restaurant when it was called Yo Sushi. It looks like it has changed owners. Decor hasn't changed from when it was the previous restaurant. In fact, I probably wouldn't have come here had I known it had changed hands, but since we were already seated before I realized I decided to give them a whirl.
This place offers exceptional value! We ordered a couple of rolls and an order of assorted sashimi. My goodness, were the slices ever thick! The rolls were generously portioned and we were delightfully surprised about how large they were.
Service was appropriate and to my expectation. With all the Japanese restaurants on Hastings, Tentatsu definitely sets themselves apart with the generous portions.
